Community Outreach Project - International Events

Hjaltibonhoga is excited to be expanding our Community Outreach Project internationally.

In October 2026, we are in New Zealand offering our FREE workshops around the country. 

​

We teach traditional fiddle music, with Shetland at its core. Learn by ear (sheet music will be given out afterwards).

Class Levels

​​We offer two levels of workshop at most locations

- please consider which level will give you the most comfortable learning experience by ear​ and book accordingly

• Starter by Ear - usually our Morning Workshop

  • if you have never learned by ear before, you are nervous about your skill level learning by ear or if you haven't been playing very long

• Skilled by Ear - usually our Afternoon Workshop

  • the tunes and speed of learning will step up in this class 

  • you should be experienced at learning by ear

• Please note: these workshops are not suitable for beginners​
